Despite the extraordinary wonders of biological therapies, health professionals are reminded of their shared responsibility to use the capabilities wisely and with foresight. Giving prescriptions without caution can waste valuable resources, pose risks to patients and undermine the trust that is the foundation of the medical profession. The matter was emphasised during the Opening Ceremony of the Medical Conference on Biologics held at a hotel in Kampung Anggerek Desa.

Doctor Hajah Rafidah binti Haji Gharif, Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health in her speech also said that biological therapy is a complex treatment with limited resources. The conference, among others, emphasised the important role of primary healthcare providers in early identification, patient referral, patient education as well as ongoing monitoring and support for those undergoing biological therapy treatment. Through this educational initiative, health professionals will be better prepared to practice the use of biological therapy ethically.
